The video starts off with a solid part from Steve Olson. His style may be sloppy, but his trick selection is fantastic, and he's a great deal of fun to watch. Highlights include a front blunt 270 shuvit out in the middle of a ledge, and a roof drop to boardslide which is just all sorts of gnarly.
After Steve Olson's part comes the Shortys ams. Sammy Baptista has a solid part, lots of uber-tech
switch ledge skating makes his part fully enjoyable. Toan Nguyen (i'm pretty
sure i misspelled that) has a solid part, although the first couple of
times I watched it, I was downright appalled by his style. Then I
realized that like Sammy, a huge part of his part was switch. It's
sick. Aaron Snyder has a part. I'd like to know when he's coming out
with another part, because this kid has been sick since day 1. He's got
one of the cleanest styles I've ever seen in my life, and does tricks
like a fakie 5-0 360 flip out. Sick. Brandon Turner puts together a
solid part too, even though I've never really enjoyed watching him
skate, but his trick selection is good and theres a pretty good variety
to his part.
After the Shortys ams are done with their spot destruction, Peter Smolik starts killing it. I don't know if any of you new kids remember Smolik, but he was doing tricks like kickflip back tails to kickflip out like 6 years ago. Add to that a smooth style, and a gnarly-ass boardslide down a massive kinked ledge and you've got possibly one of the best video parts ever. This is arguable of course, but this part remains one of the most technical video parts that I have ever seen.
And finally, after Smolik comes the kid's favorite, the Muska. Chad no longer has the same hype that he had when Fulfill the Dream came out, and I love that, because it means that people can step back and realize that he's a pretty damn burly skater, whether they like his clothing or not. I personally am a Muska fan, not because he's burly, or because he's into hip hop or because he's on Tony Hawk's Super Skater or whatever, but because he has fun with his skating, and you can tell just by watching him. Sure he does the gnarly rails and the same tricks (crooks, tailslides and lipslides), but you can tell that he enjoys doing what he's doing so much that it's contagious. Chad Muska seems like the guy who makes the session exciting, the person who's laughing even when he falls, and in the ultra serious world of modern skateboarding, thats like a breath of fresh air.
All in all, Fulfill the Dream is an exellent video, and I recommend it to every little kid who's never seen it before. Go out and buy it, steal it, download it, whatever you've got to do to see it.
