Mark XTC’s been something of a drum & bass kingpin in the North West of England for some time now. Currently lecturing in DJ and Audio Technology at Manchester College he’s been sharing his personal love of music for many years, through several different outlets. In the 80s he won the North West DMC DJ Championships and devoted his life to DJing and producing music with groups like The Mix Factory and Da Intalex (a duo with a certain man called Marcus who’d later go on to adopt the name and coin the Soul:ution label).
After those projects disbanded Mark signed to Ray Keith’s Dread Recordings/Penny Black Records empire releasing music such as the Come On EP which in turn brought him to the attention of Dillinja and his Valve label with whom he’d go on to release tracks like ‘Keyz’ and ‘Roll Dem Beatz’. Over the years Mark’s also released on numerous other labels and as a result has played all across the world but he’s making the journey from his native Manchester alongside the Hit & Run crew to play Room Three next Friday.
With a lineage as colourful as Mark XTC’s is was always going to be inevitable that we’d ask him to put together a mixtape but we’re even happier he chose to select 90 minutes worth of his favourite jungle records.A jungle classics Fabriclive promo mix has been recorded by Mark XTC for the upcoming Hit & Run takeover on 9.5.14.
