It's tough to know where to start in Memphis. There's Sun Studio and Elvis. There's Stax Records and every American soul singer worth a mention. There's Easley McCain Recording Studios, the scene of seminal album sessions for everyone from The White Stripes to Jeff Buckley, Cat Power to Pavement. There's Ardent Studios—the home of cult heroes Big Star. And then there's the Memphis that spawned Three 6 Mafia. Memphis' musical history is as rich and delicious as all the fried chicken and biscuits we ingested while we were down there.
