Angel Forest lives in upstate New York in an off-the-grid cabin in the
woods. He spent his youth traveling the country, feeding hippies and
singing cheesy spiritual songs by the heart fire at Rainbow Family
gatherings, often until sunrise.
In Northern California, he discovered a “chill community to blossom
into.” It was here that he fell in love with rolling spliffs. And when
he moved to upstate New York, he kept right on rolling. Over the years,
he has collected hundreds, if not thousands, of roaches. He thought
intensely about what he could make with them. Instead a vision came to
him; they would become his medium!
For the past four years, he’s been making roach art collages. He says
it probably would be easier to work in oils or watercolor – or even
peanut butter! – but Angel believes this medium speaks to his audience.
He plans to stage an exhibition this winter at a California cannabis
club. “I’m trying to channel the kindest vibes,” he says. “So I keep
making clandestine art. It’s my destiny on this medicine road.”
Check out Angel Forest’s roach art collages below. All art is created with Raw organic hemp papers.
