History was made last
October with the introduction of the first SLS Women’s competition at
the Super Crown World Championship in Chicago. Eight of the most elite
female skaters in the world battled it out for $30K for first
place—which was the largest purse given in a female contest in 2015. In
the end, Brazil’s Leticia Bufoni emerged victorious after landing a
perfect 360 flip over the wedge gap on her fifth and final attempt of
the best trick portion of the competition. Vanessa Torres and Alana
Smith came in second and third respectively.
This historic moment was
viewed internationally via a live webcast and later televised on FS1. Last year’s SLS Women’s contest truly ushered in a new era for
professional female skateboarding.
The SLS Women’s competition
will be returning this year to the Super Crown in Los Angeles on
October 2. While Leticia Bufoni is coming into this year’s contest with a
win under her belt, the 2016 female championship is up for grabs. With
potential competitors emerging from around the globe, this year’s Super
Crown will truly highlight the best in women’s professional
skateboarding. The official announcement of the 2016 SLS women’s roster
will be unveiled tomorrow...streetleague.com
